Music/Money Skills Program (3 Hours Per Day, Online)

  Date: July 20th - July 24th

  Age: 7 - 12

  Program Fee: $100

  Program Kit Fee: $25*

This unique summer program hosted in collaboration with WalletWiz Inc. gives participants an opportunity to learn skills in music, and financial literacy! Students will spend the week participating in a variety of music and financial literacy activities, games and more. They will each be given a "career" and earn special program money for completing different tasks, which they can use to "buy" different online prizes. Each of the music and finance concepts that they learn will help them navigate the daily challenges they will go through, and by the end of the week they will be musically and financially empowered!

Music & Money Mania (1.5 Hours Per Day, Online)

  Date: July 27th - July 31st

  Age: 7 - 12

  Program Fee: $75

  Program Kit Fee: $20*

This unique summer program hosted in collaboration with WalletWiz Inc. combines music with money! Students will spend the week learning how to play the recorder and harmonica, and learning about money. They will earn special program money for completing different instrument challenges, and use the financial literacy skills they learn – including budgeting savings and more - to “buy” fun prizes - including a chance to do a virtual performance at the end of the week. Each of the music and finance concepts that they learn will help them navigate the daily challenges they will go through, and by the end of the week they will be musically and financially ready to put on their own show!

(4 Days) - Ukulele Mania (1.5 Hours Per Day, Online)

  Date: August 4th - August 7th

  Age: 7 - 12

  Program Fee: $75

  Program Kit Fee: With Ukulele: $80, Without Ukulele: $25

Are you interested in learning how to play the ukulele? This program will teach you ukulele basics and have you strumming along to some of your favourite songs in no time! Ukulele Mania will cover the basics of playing this awesome instrument, including but not limited to how to hold and tune your instrument, strumming basic chords and even playing single note melodies. The program will also cover basic music theory specific to the ukulele.

Digital Music & Money (1.5 Hours Per Day, Online)

  Date: August 10th - August 14th

  Age: 10 - 14

  Program Fee: $75

  Program Kit Fee: $20*

Does your teen love everything digital? This summer program is the perfect one for them. Hosted in collaboration with WalletWiz Inc., this program focuses on the digital side of music, and financial literacy. Using music making apps, students will spend a portion of the program learning how to use digital music apps for DJ-ing, music production and more. They will spend the financial literacy portion of the program learning about digital financial literacy including topics like e-commerce/online shopping, online banking, crypto-currency and more. With today’s kids having more online access than ever, this program combines fun and knowledge to give them all the tools they need to be digitally savvy!

Weekly Summer Programs

Elite Vocal Performance Masterclass

  Date/Time: 60 - 90 minutes (based on group size), exact times TBA

  Duration: 6 weekly sessions in July & August

  Cost: $150

  Age: 13 - 18

  Experience: Advanced

This is an invite-only masterclass, open to participants of the vocal group initially set to perform at this year's Vaughan Film Festival. It is also open to other experienced vocalists based on online video audition submissions. This Vocal Performance Masterclass will help students take their vocal and performance skills to another level individually while working together as a group. In a masterclass, all students watch and listen to each other perform. After each respective performance, the instructor will provide advice and comments to help further strengthen both the vocals and the overall performance. In a masterclass format, all students can benefit from the instructor's comments on each performance, providing them with both first-person and third-person insights that can then be applied to their own vocal performance skills. Students will be required to learn and perform a new song each week, allowing them to develop a larger repertoire while learning and performing material at a faster pace. At the end of the session, the group will put on their own show, where they will each perform live on Instagram Live.

Audition Criteria: Intermediate/advanced singers must submit a live vocal performance video of a pop song of their choice. Students will be judged on performance, technique and song selection. Students selected for the VFF 2020 performance are not required to audition.

Junior Vocal Performance Masterclass

  Duration: 6 weekly sessions in July & August

  Age: 9 - 12

  Experience: Beginner - Intermediate

Guitar Workshop/Masterclass

  Date/Time: 60 - 90 minutes (based on group size), exact time TBA

  Duration: 4 weekly sessions in August

  Cost: $100

  Age: 12+

  Experience: Intermediate - Advanced

Designed for experienced guitarists, this workshop will help students take their guitar playing and knowledge to another level. It will also help students expand their guitar knowledge beyond their respective area of focus, whether it is acoustic, electric or classical. In a masterclass, all students watch and listen to each other perform. After each respective performance, the instructor will provide advice and comments to help further strengthen technical, tonal and performance related aspects of the performance. In a masterclass format, all students can benefit from the instructor's comments on each performance, providing them with both first-person and third-person insights that can then be applied to their own musical development. Students will be required to learn and perform a new song or song excerpt each week, allowing them to develop a larger repertoire while learning and performing material at a faster pace.

RCM Piano Masterclass (Level 1 - 4)

  Date/Time: 60 - 90 minutes (based on group size), exact time TBA

  Duration: 4 weekly sessions in August

  Cost: $100

  Age: 9+

  Experience: Beginner - Intermediate RCM Piano

Designed for piano students working through RCM levels 1-4, this workshop will help students take their piano skills to another level. In a masterclass, all students watch and listen to each other perform. After each respective performance, the instructor will provide advice and comments to help further strengthen technical, tonal and performance related aspects of the performance. In a masterclass format, all students can benefit from the instructor's comments on each performance, providing them with both first-person and third-person insights that can then be applied to their own musical development. Students will be required to learn and perform a new piece every two weeks, allowing them to develop a larger repertoire while learning and performing material at a faster pace.

RCM Piano Masterclass (Level 5 - 8)

  Date/Time: 60 - 90 minutes (based on group size), exact time TBA

  Duration: 4 weekly sessions in August

  Cost: $100

  Age: 13+

  Experience: Intermediate - Advanced RCM Piano

Designed for piano students working through RCM levels 5-8, this masterclass will help students take their piano skills to another level. In a masterclass, all students watch and listen to each other perform. After each respective performance, the instructor will provide advice and comments to help further strengthen technical, tonal and performance related aspects of the performance. They will then perform the piece again the following week after applying the instructor's notes. In a masterclass format, all students can benefit from the instructor's comments on each performance, providing them with both first-person and third-person insights that can then be applied to their own musical development. Students will be required to learn and perform a new piece every two weeks, allowing them to develop a larger repertoire while learning and performing material at a faster pace.

Camp Rules

  • Payment, Refund & Cancellations:
    • Full payment is required at the time of registration by e-transfer or credit card.
    • A 10% sibling discount will be applied for each sibling enrolled in the program.
    • A full refund will be provided for students who withdraw from the program 10 days prior to the start date. After this time, a credit note will be issued. A $15.00 administration fee will be charged for all cancellations.
    • Chorus Music Academy Inc. reserves the right to cancel programs due to low enrollment. A full refund will be provided if participants are unable to switch to a different program.
  • Program Rules & Requirements:
    • Program Platform: We will be running programs through Zoom. Upon registration, a link with a login ID and password will be e-mailed to each registrant.
    • Equipment: Participants will require a device such as a laptop, computer, tablet or phone through the entire duration of the program. Please note that a strong and stable WIFI connection is needed in order to stay connected to Zoom during the program.
    • Program Space: Participants are required to work from an appropriate family area of the home with a presentable backdrop. The space should be well lit and free from excessive background noise and distraction.
    • Parent Supervision: It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to supervise the participant and the workspace at all times. An adult must be available at home during the entire duration of the program.
    • Dress Code: Participants are required to dress in school appropriate attire.
    • Timeliness: Joining the program on time will ensure the participant does not lose out on any of the activities.
    • Conduct: Participants are expected to behave responsibly throughout the duration of the virtual lesson/program. Consistent disruptive behavior could result in the participant being removed from the program as a last resort.
    • Sharing Contact Details: In order for our instructors / program coordinators to set up a class, we will need to provide them with your email address or phone number.
    • Material Pick-Up: We will provide a date and time for curb side material pick up.
